ma Media Survey and IVW 2012 results: Die Zeit maintains winning spot as Germany's top weekly national
The IVW (Germany's national media auditing body) survey, and the ma Media Survey results have been published for 2012, both proving yet again that Die Zeit continues to increase its strength against the competition.
According to the IVW 2012 results, during a period of economic uncertainty, Die Zeit is nevertheless enjoying record circulation figures, selling 509,933 in Q4 2011.
The ma survey shows that with 1.7 million readers, Die Zeit is Germany's most highly-read national newspaper - way ahead of its competitors Welt am Sonntag and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. Die Zeit's lead in coverage against FAS is now 100%, in comparison with 50% in 2011.

We are delighted to announce that Mike Jarvis has joined us as Chairman of Advance International Media.
Mike's career started more than 35 years ago, and includes 18 years with the media independent he founded - MJP, sold in 1989 to Carat and now trading as Carat International. During this time, Mike launched IJI (Ingram Jarvis International) which became CIA International (now part of Media Edge CIA) and Optimedia, initially a joint venture with Publicis.
Prior to joining Banner, Mike worked for Gateway Computers where his initial appointment as Worldwide Media Director gave him responsibility for creating programmes to launch Gateway across the world from Japan, Australia and Hong Kong to most key European markets. Later, Jarvis served as Gateway's European Marketing Director where he was responsible for managing their multimedia and marketing communications lead generation programme.
Mike then worked for 14 years at Banner Corporation as International Media Director, with key responsibility for managing clients such as Cisco, AT&T, Symantec, Trend Micro, Adobe, Sandisk, CA, Autodesk, Corel, AMD, Hitachi and many more.
Mike has been a board member of the UK chapter of the IAA (International Advertising Association) for more than 25 years, and during this period chaired numerous committees including Membership, Activities and Associates. Mike currently sits on the European Advisory Board of the BPA.

Repubblica.it registers record web traffic
Italy's leading quality news and current affairs website, Repubblica.it, recorded its largest number of unique users and page impressions last week since its launch in 1997.
Repubblica.it recorded an astounding increase in the volume of web traffic on May 2nd, reaching a total number of 2.6 million unique users, 30% more than on an average day, and 13% more users than its competitor Corriere.it on the same day. With page views, figures were an impressive 47 million - over 80% more than average, and 40% more than Corriere.it.
This success was mainly due to the prompt action by the journalists at Repubblica.it, who were the first to publish breaking news on the death of Osama Bin Laden at 5.02 local time, covering the event with articles, videos and photo galleries.
Ansa, the equivalent of Reuters in Italy, published the news at 5.26am, with Corriere.it publishing their news on this groundbreaking story at 7.00am.

German technology site Netzwelt launches new tablet magazine, Netzwelt Touch
The German technology and IT site, Netzwelt, has launched Netzwelt Touch, a new and exciting online magazine, designed exclusively for the range of new tablet PCs available on the market.

Fashion title Citizen K Russia to relaunch from quarterly to monthly publication
Citizen K in Russia, one of the leading lights in international fashion journalism, is relaunching this March as a monthly title. Citizen K Russia was previously quarterly, but is increasing its frequency as well as making small changes to the design and structure of the title. Another record-breaking circulation for DIE ZEIT
Die Zeit has enjoyed great success once again, after registering a record-breaking 504,256 copies sold in the last quarter of 2010.
Not only has Germany's leading weekly national broadsheet never before sold so many copies in a final quarter, but circulation is up by 2,010 against the same quarter in 2009.
Die Zeit's current sold circulation is the third highest quarterly figure in the history of the newspaper: Q1 2009 and Q1 1991 are the only quarters in which more copies of Die Zeit have been sold.

A detailed survey has been carried out by the MMA - Media Markt Analysen, Frankfurt - on ZEITmagazin, showing its popularity amongst its readers. Findings include:
- 62% have read the magazine since launch
- 60% would miss the magazine if it ceased publication
- Readers are incredibly loyal: on average, they have ready 9 of the 12 issues published over three months
- 68% read the magazine from cover to cover thanks to its perfect mix of information and entertainment
- Ad recall is an outstanding 64% due to the sophisticated layout of the magazine.

Cicero circulation up by 5.2 percent
Cicero has increased its circulation for the 16th time in succession, according to the IVW figures just published; the sold circulation of the magazine has now risen to 80,588 copies.
The ongoing readership growth reflects the strategy of gearing the magazine to the premium target group of opinion leaders and decision-makers and the subscription marketing strategy.
Also, Cicero is one of the top five winners in the new March figures for all German magazines according to the ZAS advertising statistics.
WirtschaftsWoche increase paid circulation
WirtschaftsWoche overtook Capital in terms of the paid circulation (-10.7 % or 22,000 copies in absolute terms).
IVW Online - iq media marketing in 1st place
With growth of 7.3%, iq media marketing GMBH was the clear leader in the survey on the use of online advertising media conducted by the IVW association for the verification of advertising media circulation. The survey listed 11.41 billion PIs for the marketing organisation. The websites in the iq media marketing portfolio succeeded in growing traffic in terms of both PIs and visits.
Zeit.de set a new record with 10.69 million visits and Handelsblatt.com also recorded a record 50.8 million PIs in March. The VZ websites continue to build on their success, with schülerVZ (2nd place), studiVZ (3rd) and meinVZ (5th) all ranking in the top ten sites based on PIs. Golem.de, wiwo.de, karriere.de und SciTechs-online have also increased their traffic volumes.
